A Different Kind of Remodeling Firm

About Us

Gridley Company differs in many ways from the typical remodeling firm.

For nearly 40 years, Gridley Company has helped homeowners throughout San Jose and the surrounding Bay Area create homes that better fit the way they live.

Founded by Linda Gridley in 1976, Gridley was built on the belief that homeowners deserve more than a beautiful remodel. They deserve a team that listens, a process they can feel confident in, and people who genuinely care about the outcome.

As a woman-owned design-build remodeling company, we bring design, permitting and construction together under one roof. Our team works together from the beginning, keeping your goals, your investment and your home at the center of every decision.

Much of our business comes from repeat and referral clients. To us, that says something important. The relationships we build during a remodel matter just as much as the work we complete.

Our Philosophy

At Gridley Company, we believe remodeling is about more than changing your home. To us, a remodel is about helping you make the right changes for the way you live, with a partner there to guide you through the process.

We Believe Relationships Come First.

We are a team of listeners. We want to understand how you live, what matters most to you, and what you hope to accomplish with your home.

We are a team of experts. Our design and build teams work together from the beginning, bringing creative thinking and construction experience to the table.

And we are a team of problem-solvers. Every remodel comes with its own challenges. We work to find practical solutions, navigate the unexpected, and keep your project moving forward with your goals in mind.

The result is a remodel shaped by thoughtful planning, informed investment decisions and a beautiful design that’s uniquely yours.

We believe honesty and transparency are essential to maintaining those relationships. That means open conversations, clear communication, and doing what we say we’ll do. Throughout the process, we treat your home with the same care and respect we would want for our own.

When the work is finished, we hope you feel you gained more than a beautifully remodeled home. We hope you gained a partner you could trust throughout the journey and a relationship that continues beyond the remodel.

Most importantly, we hope you love living in the home we created together, not just the day you move back in, but for many years to come. Because for us, the true measure of a successful remodel is knowing that years later, you’re still happy to come home and love where you live.

Refined Design-Build

One Team. From the First Plans to the Final Details.

Remodeling involves a lot of moving pieces. With Gridley’s Refined Design-Build approach, you don’t have to coordinate separate design and construction companies or navigate the process on your own.

In a traditional design-bid approach, homeowners typically hire an architect to develop plans and then seek bids from contractors to determine whether those plans can be built within their budget. When the plans and budget don’t
align, it can mean going back to the drawing board or making costly adjustments.

With design-build, design and construction work together from the start. Your project is developed with your goals, budget and the realities of construction in mind.

Gridley’s Refined Design-Build approach brings even more together, including:

  • Integrated design and construction
  • In-house project management and trades
  • Design and product guidance
  • 3D computer renderings
  • Coordinated scheduling and warehouse staging
  • Warranty support

With one team responsible for bringing the project together, you have a clear point of contact and people who understand the decisions that have been made along the way.

The goal is a more connected remodeling experience, with fewer moving pieces for you to manage and a team focused on getting the details right.

A Commitment to Quality and Environmental Responsibility

We believe a well-remodeled home should serve you well for years to come. That means paying attention not only to how a space looks, but also to how it performs, the materials used and the impact of the work.

Gridley approaches every project with environmental responsibility in mind. Depending on your goals and the needs of your home, we can discuss opportunities to incorporate additional green building practices into your remodel.

These may include:

  • Improving energy efficiency and exploring energy-saving technologies.
  • Selecting materials with consideration for environmental impact and availability.
  • Reducing construction waste through responsible recycling and disposal.
  • Considering indoor air quality and material selections for homeowners with allergies or chemical sensitivities.
  • Every home and project is different. We’ll help you explore the options that make sense for your home, priorities, and investment.
