Recently, we completed a kitchen remodel for a couple who enjoy hosting loved ones, especially with the wife’s passion for baking. They envisioned a kitchen that not only embraced her love for baking but also provided ample space for family gatherings. A key element of the design was a barrier-free island customized to accommodate her baking needs that offered generous room for cooling and decorating her creations. By creating an opening from the living room to the kitchen, we seamlessly integrated the spaces, allowing a cohesive flow. Incorporating island bar seating was another inspired addition, encouraging guests to gather and partake in the culinary festivities.
Overcoming Space Constraints: Fulfilling Grand Visions in a Compact Kitchen
With careful planning and our expert craftsmanship, we transformed their cramped kitchen into their dream culinary space. Originally confined and lacking in utilization of square footage, we reimagined the layout to introduce openness and functionality. A stunning Walnut central island was added, providing both additional prep surface and storage capacity. This redesign not only maximized countertop space but also optimized storage for baking essentials.
Elevating Aesthetics: A Unique Range Backsplash and Embrace of Natural Light
A standout feature of the remodel was the range backsplash, serving as a unique focal point with its stunning double herringbone pattern and strategically placed outlets mounted below the cabinets. Moreover, we prioritized the infusion of natural light into the kitchen. Two new skylights were installed into an oversized well for a dramatic architectural feature that brightened the entire space. The Velux skylights included upgrades like motorized open/close at the push of a remote button and adjustable blinds to regulate sunlight and minimize wear on the walnut island. Beyond illumination, these skylights filled the space with a sense of spaciousness and airiness.
Innovative Space Management: Refining the Floor Plan for Enhanced Living
Our innovation extended beyond the kitchen, as we creatively reconfigured the floor plan by relocating the hall bath. This strategic move allowed for the creation of a spacious walk-in closet within the primary suite. Not only did this adjustment optimize the use of existing space, but it also facilitated the integration of a modernized hall bathroom. By repurposing unused square footage, we tailored the space to better suit the couple’s lifestyle needs, resulting in a more functional and harmonious floor plan. With the hall bathroom no longer having access to a window, a sun-tunnel and exhaust fan combination unit was installed to flood light not only into the bathroom, but the hallway as well.
